Advertising is kind of like a conversation.
Here, you are the one who is talking (through words) and your prospects are responding to that(inside their heads).
But even though you are the one who is talking, you are not the one who is in control.
Because they are not obligated to read, they can simply stop reading.
When you are talking about all the great features of your product, a million different things are happening inside their heads.
So we need to find out what they are, address them and then eliminate them.
Not everyone will buy something by seeing only one Ad, But we can gradually convince those people by creating an autoresponder sequence.
And creating one isn’t that hard.
There are some general patterns that these autoresponder sequences follow.
So , Here are some of these guideposts for your own thinking:
Leading the Reader.
Copywriters do not have the benefit of having the prospect in front of us to ask the questions, we must craft our ads in such a manner that they literally lead our prospect (by the flow of the copy) to ask the question we want to answer.
It might sound really hard. But think about the questions you would ask before buying something.
So you need to be the prospect and the copywriter.
You need to ask questions and then answer them.
This copywriting formula works really well for a follow up email, right after you have told your prospects all the features and benefits about your product.
These 3 emails I got from Dan Lok are really good examples.
The First Email.
Subject;WARNING: embarrassing pic from the beginning of my rags-to-riches story.
Before I show you the embarrassing photo, I need to give you some context first.
You see, when I first started out as a copywriter I wasn’t confident at all.
I didn’t know where to start…
So I took the YellowPages book (for those who don’t know what that is, it’s a huge book filled with phone numbers)…
And I dialed every business listed inside the book and pitched them.
“Hey, I saw one of the ads you posted on YellowPages. It’s not very good, I think I can write it better for you. Do you want to hire me?”
“No!” Then they would SLAM the phone.
Rejection after rejection. I cold-called 500+ businesses… and I got one gig that paid very little.
This wasn’t what I was expecting when I got into copywriting. I wanted to be a highly paid expert like my mentor and all those copywriters I see.
That’s when my mentor told me to start charging higher prices.
Charge higher prices? But I couldn’t even get a low-ticket client… how would I be able to close a high-ticket client?
(This was me at that time.
When I was starting out with my one man ad agency.
Now, doesn’t that look like a High-Income Copywriter™ to you?
Kidding. I was far from it.
I looked nerdy, didn’t know how to dress, and had a strong Asian accent (still do).
Nothing was in my favor and the odds were stacked against me.
But I knew that if I wanted to support my mom and give her a better life, I would need to become a High-Income Copywriter™.
So that day I made a decision. I would do whatever it takes.
So I tried to sell my copywriting services at a high-ticket price… and I failed.
Then I tried again… and failed.
This happened many times, but eventually I got my first $1,000 sale.
Then $2,000. Then $4,000. Then $8,000.
And when I got my first $10,000 deal, my life changed.
I was finally able to provide for my mom. I was able to buy us a new car. And I got some damn good looking suits.

The ideas presented in your copy should flow in a logical fashion, anticipating your prospect’s questions and answering them as if the questions were asked face-to-face.
So, a good autoresponder email sequence should look like this;
- You first tell the reader every feature and benefits about your product.
- Then make a second email answering all the questions that your prospects might be asking.
- And then giving one last push to close the deal by offering some sort of price reduction.
And that’s it.
